Nightstorm is just under 11,5 cm or 4,5 inches. She is made entirely out of felt. Eyes, mouth, bellybutton and additional stitches in clothing are made with embroidery floss. Her (tiny!) necklace is braided with 3 strains of embroidery floss and a real feather is attached to it. (This gave me a serious cramp in my pinkies XD) Her hair is made from knitting wool and has some colour-coördinated beads in them.
Everything was handmade/handsewn of course! I hope you'll tell me what you think of it This is the first time I've made anything like it!
Nightstorm is a character from Rivertwine holt and copyrighted to it's player/owner. The doll is copyrighted to me ofcourse. She was made for an arttrade with one of the Rivertwine players. I got a fabolous drawing of one of my own characters (Bliksem) in return, drawn by Jamie (a.k.a. Nightstorm). Thanks a lot Jamie!
Edit: Because I still have some lingering comments from other people (from Rivertwine holt) on this work in my inbox, I've decided to put them here... At least all the comments are in 1 place then. Alas, I do not know the da-names of these people, or if they even have an account.
Sarah Clawfoot's comment: This is so incredibly cute! I hope you liked making it, because I forsee a LOT of requests for them! Such great detail, in such a small scale. This is really, really, really fantastic!
Vicki Stephenson's comment: Eeee! A Nightstorm doll! I love handmade elf dolls! Where can I order an Evervale doll? *g* Seriously you did a wonderful job. I love all the details!
Ellen Million's comment: Oh my GOSH, that is the most amazing thing ever! I just LOVE it!
Holly Hutchison's comment: Susan, this is just spectacular! Especially for a very-first effort -- I'm enormously impressed! I can't believe how tiny the doll is, and yet how much detail she has! And it's just so creative and unexpected. I LOVE it!
Whitney Ware's comment: Ohmigod! This is just the cutest thing ever! I love it! The little details are amazing, and isn't it just fantastic that one of our crafty-arty elves is made 3-D in this fashion? Susan, this is absolutely incredible! Especially for a first time effort. I hope you keep making more!!!
And Whitney's earlier comment on recieving the trade: WOWSA!!!! This is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!! I'll get this posted to the River Twine website later today, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of rave reviews. How fabulous! Where did you get the idea to do this, and do you plan to make more?
And since I can't react to all these fantastic comments on Rivertwine (I'm not a member), Ill just shout it out here: Thanks a lot you guys! I think you are the reason that I have more work in my gallery now
I REALLY like how she turned out, and I already just liked the whole idea. It's so original for an art trade! But you can also just see you've put a lot of work in it, and the details (bellybutton!) are just cute.
I like the upper right shot the best, where's she popping up from the plant like it was a dreamberrybush and she yelled "Scared ya!"
*lol* I like your visualisation about the dreanberrybush-scare!
I was kinda nervous about the reactions on Nightstorm for the arttrade, but not anymore I got really good responses! Woei!
Now I really want to make more dolls/plushies. (But not just yet, because my hand hurts a LOT today I hope it gets better soon)

Wow! She turned out great! I would really like to see her in real life. Don't forget to show me. On the photo she doesn't look so tiny, I think that's because of all the details. But it's amazing she's only 11,5 cm!!
Ik wil er ook één!
*kijkt heeeel lief en schattig enzo*
Aww, she's super cool. Have you ever tried needle felting? I bet you'd be marvelous at it, i really thought this was completly needle felted at first, but whoa having to stich all that? Very impressive, lol. AC moore sells the barbed felting needles- i reccomend the bigger ones in the little orange box thingy (ignore the warning label) get some raw wool, you can buy it from AC MOore but its stupidly expensive- find some roving or top from your local sheep person and poke away! Roll up the wool tightly, give it a few good pokes, make limbs sparetly and attach them after, and with repeated voodoo poking of your creation, you can firmly felt them. Also try needle felting around pipecleaners to make posable figures (like all my little dogs) Its fun stuff, and if your into felting, which it seems you may be, needle felting is much less messy (a bit more painful if you poke yourself) but you should try it! Keep making fun stuff and i would love to see future creations.. Liza :]
Tried some needle felting last weekend I made me some easter eggs with styropor eggs and woll in various colours. I'll try to put some up later this week (busy week going on). And you're not kidding: It's seriously addicting! I'll try the pipecleaners some time, sounds fun!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

I think that necklace was the most time consuming and difficult part of making this doll O_o
Very fun to do though!
